This morning when I walked into the kitchen, I found an orange peel lying on the counter. It had been deftly peeled off in one entire piece and was lying there in the shape of the letter “S”. Clearly it had been left there deliberately and I was meant to find it. I could not help but smile. It reminded me of something my kids used to do. Except the kids are grown up and don’t live here anymore.
Apparently the Significant Other had gotten up in the middle of the night for a snack and had peeled the orange while watching TV. I guess he was a bit impressed with the results and left it for me to see. Instead of just throwing it into the compost right away, I decided to acknowledge his great dexterity and skill, and left it sitting out on the counter all day so we could admire it.
This evening a couple of friends came over to visit. We all go out to dinner together about once a month. We sometimes share and exchange books when we see each other, and tonight my girlfriend brought over a novel for me to read that she had finished. They walked into the house and she placed this book on the kitchen counter.
Synchronicity?

Hmmm, we might not be talking about the same book. My Chocolate was the history of chocolate by Mort someone.

This was the book “Chocolat”, which was made into a movie later, which I think did not do it justice. Actually, I liked the sequel much better – “The Girl With No Shadow”. It was a witchy read filled with scrumptious images…..
